I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Heather Davis, Associate ProfessorCurriculum and Instruction. Trained as an educational psychologist, my teaching interests surround helping teachers use theories of development to meet their students’ needs. I currently teach our undergraduate EDP340: Educational Psychology and EDP370: Applied Child Development Courses. I also enjoy teaching graduate level research seminars in the interpersonal contexts (teacher & peer relationships) and emotional context of the classroom and courses in teacher education (i.e. field experience/ supervision and professional development). My primary goal as a teacher is to develop a classroom context that facilitates students’ mastery of course content as well as the strategies and skills they need for life-long learning.  I currently supervise graduate students for both the Educational Psychology and the Curriculum and Developmental Supervision Programs.

My research interests follow three threads: examining developmental differences/changes in children’s relationships with their teachers, understanding the ways in which students and teachers regulate their emotions, and exploring the enactment of pre-service and practicing teachers’ beliefs.
