I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Trained as an educational psychologist, my teaching interests surround helping teachers use theories of development to meet their students’ needs. I currently teach our undergraduate EDP340: Educational Psychology and EDP370: Applied Child Development Courses. I also enjoy teaching graduate level research seminars in the interpersonal contexts (teacher & peer relationships) and emotional context of the classroom and courses in teacher education (i.e. field experience/ supervision and professional development). My primary goal as a teacher is to develop a classroom context that facilitates students’ mastery of course content as well as the strategies and skills they need for life-long learning. I currently supervise graduate students for both the Educational Psychology and the Curriculum and Developmental Supervision Programs.
My research interests follow three threads: examining developmental differences/changes in children’s relationships with their teachers, understanding the ways in which students and teachers regulate their emotions, and exploring the enactment of pre-service and practicing teachers’ beliefs.
